🕐 Read Time 2 Minutes
Spring is all about fresh starts, so why not give your finances a little seasonal refresh? If your New Year’s financial resolutions have fallen by the wayside, don’t worry—you’re not alone! Now is the perfect time to dust off your budget, get back on track, and set yourself up for a strong financial season.
Things to Keep in Mind as You Refresh Your Finances
Spring Break Fun - Whether you’re traveling or just planning local outings, spring break can add extra expenses. Be sure to budget for entertainment, dining out, or any special activities.
Tax Season - UGH - yes, it’s that time of year again! If you’ve paid in the past or had any major changes in job, income, or life events, you may want to start preparing to pay some taxes by April 15th. Also, make sure to budget for your tax preparer or filing fees and if you own any property that isn’t mortgaged (yay!) then be prepared for the real estate taxes coming due also. Every city is different, but one of our counties has a 2% discount if you pay by March 31. Yes, please!
Wardrobe Refresh - It just might be the best month to add an extra few dollars to your clothing budget and buy next winter’s boots, coats and clothing on major clearance this month. Stores need to make room for the spring line up and you’ll find heavy discounts on winter clothing.
Home & Yard Maintenance – Warmer weather means home projects, gardening, and outdoor cleanup. Factor in the costs of supplies, tools, or professional services if needed.
Upcoming Events & Celebrations – Weddings, graduations, and other gatherings often ramp up in the spring and early summer. Start setting aside money for gifts, travel, or hosting costs.
Summer Plans on the Horizon – Believe it or not, some registrations have already begun! How about starting a category so that you can be financially prepared for all the fun!
